**All things considered, "Pirates of the Caribbean" takes place in (more or less) the real world during the mid-18th century (1740s or thereabouts), so there is potentially some historical crossover. The first mention of Will's ship, the Flying Dutchman, in nautical myth was in 1795 although details of the legend vary between versions. Please don't 4th Wall break that he's from a movie/Disney/video game/book, but the ship and other common names (eg. Blackbeard, Davy Jones) may be utilized.
